Furniture Warehouse Stores - The Best Destination For Affordable and Quality Pieces

A furniture warehouse can be a great place to shop for a whole houseful of furnishings or just a piece or two. There are many differences between places that call themselves furniture warehouses, so it is best to find out what type of warehouse you are visiting before you go.

A furniture warehouse may carry all types of furnishings, including living room, dining room, and bedroom sets, as well as accent pieces, or it may specialize in just one type. Some stores may have just living room furnishings and others may specialize in dining room pieces. It is quite common to see stores that only offer bedroom sets, specializing in mattresses, beds, and dressers.

Besides specializing by room type, stores specialize in niche markets. Some offer wood furniture, and may be so specialized as to offer only one type of wood, such as oak. Others may offer wicker, or certain style lines, such as a store specializing in mission style or in contemporary furnishings. There are stores dedicated to lines from one geographical area or country, such as those offering only Danish pieces or one offering only imported furnishings from Mexico. Some stores that offer discount merchandise from manufacturers that you may never have heard off. Others offer dinged, damaged, overstocked, or discontinued merchandise that has been sold to them at discounted prices from the original retailer. There are also stores that offer top-of-the-line merchandise, sometimes at outlet store prices. Before you make big purchases in outlet stores, check some prices elsewhere. Outlet stores show original prices and marked down prices, so it looks like you are getting a phenomenal deal. Sometimes, however, the original prices are a little higher than you can find in other stores in your area.

Other distinctions include the size of the facility. Some are truly warehouse setups, where a huge space stores incredible volumes of couches and loveseats. The décor may not be the most sophisticated, but that can mean you get some bargains because the store owner doesn't have to pay so much overhead in rent. Other facilities call themselves a warehouse but have significantly fewer items from which to choose. There are also on-line retailers which sell furniture out of their brick and mortar warehouses.

There are furniture warehouse stores which required you to pay a membership fee to shop and buy there. Some of these are well worth the investment, but it depends on what you are looking for and how much overall purchasing you are planning to do. Check with your friends and family to see if they have a membership so you can scope it out before you invest in a membership. You can also contact the store to see if they have guest memberships or open house days so that you can preview the kinds of merchandise and prices they have to offer.

A unique furniture warehouse niche market is used furniture. These can be great places to shop for bargain furniture. It is usually in pretty fair condition and has been cleaned and repaired. Some of these stores specialize in used office furniture, and have great buys on gently-used chairs, desks, credenzas, and assorted equipment.
